In a Life magazine from the early 50th, an ad for "well-cut tailored clothes" with the heading "The birth of the Blues", describing the "world-awaited Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race". And how Oxford adapted Dark Blue as their color. Sixty years later I found the magazine and got inspiration for this painting. In another Life magazine I found a fashion article about "The siren look of the fall". It was a match and my work started. Layers on layers with watercolor, spray paint, silkscreen and collage. This is my feeling of The Blues.
